Hi @eth. Great to see you here and thanks ☺ The black one is a pattern for a doily which you can find here. When I googled dreamcatchers there were lots of paid patterns, maybe because they're so popular, and I thought doilies might work well in a hoop which there are lots more free ones of.
The pattern for the rainbow one (a freebie) is actually for a dreamcatcher, which I found here.
I have no idea what jute is but I will have a look at it. I wanted to finish it there and then and didn't have much to use to do it with, so I spent aaaaages winding thin thread around and around (and around some more) the hoop. I figured there was probably a better way haha!
Yours sounds amazing! The purple, turquoise and rainbow combination would be stunning I'm sure! ☺

Hi @CheerBear jute is basically thick string, undyed. I wanted my dream catcher to have all natural fibres, nothing synthetic. And yes it takes hours and hours to wrap the hoop - I have 2 hoops on mine, 1 large and 1 smaller to hang below it. Thanks for the links.

Wow @CheerBear they are really beautiful dreamcatchers! Go you for exchanging a dreamcatcher for the dragon socks too. Awesome trading.
Those dreamcatchers are lovely - I don't crochet mine, it's a different process using a needle and thread done in the style, I think, of the Algonquin Native Americans in the past. After wrapping the outer ring, usually with leather if metal, or left as is if branch or vine, the thread is worked from the outside into the centre. I have none to show you an image, I'm sorry.
I did smile a lot at your slime and scientist story - my oh my.
At least they asked before going ahead in secret, so that's a really good thing.
How exciting that you have entered the world of thread as opposed to yarn! (even if it was by accident) It opens up so many possibilities even if it is more difficult to work with. If you're at all interested, have a look at the Irish Crochet Lovers and the Russian Art Crochet boards on Ravelry - they have some amazing inspirational work there. Russian work is divine, as is Japanese work.
I fell down a rabbit hole while distracting myself a couple of days ago, found these amazing free form crochet bears
Aren't they glorious!? I would love to have the gold one myself.
I'm probably more excited by the waiting for your yarn to arrive than I am about anything happening here for me at the moment (see Safe Haven thread), and also seeing the mega dragon yarns you have to choose from too. If you still need help, that is, and all that goes with it.
Thank you for your kind wishes too. Very much appreciated. I hope you are going well as can be too. ![]()

Oh, nice @Bunniekins bet you were as proud as punch on the inside! It's such a lovely feeling to wear something you've made for yourself is n't it.
Go you!
I've decided to frog a huge white 'thing' I was making as it's just gone bananas and lost it's direction - have no idea what I was thinking with it, I may use multiple strands and make up with the finger knitting as a punishment for it! I really like the lengthy winds of that knitting. So thankful to you for sharing that link! ![]()

@Former-Member Thanks for the kudos SunShower :). I have never heard the term 'to frog ...' before and what is this huge white thing that you have to frog. You have me really curious.

Oh, goodness, sorry @Bunniekins should have explained that ... not properly with it today.
To 'frog' a knitted or crocheted item means to undo it, or a part of it, either to reuse the yarn,or to rework a section because of a mistake in the pattern.
Knitters often use the word 'tink' to refer to undoing a section back to fix a mistake.
The huge white thing was supposed to become a big soft wrapping up sort of poncho, but I think I got too clever with design elements and it's gone out of shape and just doesnt' look nice at all. It's been sitting for a couple of months now and I just don't like it anymore.
I want something white as an over everything top for winter outings, which is why I thought it would work out. I shall have to figure out how much yarn there is and might be able to make it into a different style of top coating thing. ![]()

@Former-Member You see now I have learned something new today :). Whatever you do with your big white thing it will end up looking fantastic. Cannot wait to see the end result 🙂
