The other half

I'm currently living with my ex and her mum with my 8yr old also. CPTSD diagnosed. I caused our marriage breakdown. She has been very supportive that she wants me to seek help, which I'm doing. But I've known her for 20+ years. I see sadness in her. She's gone from a marriage to now just living with her ex with a mental illness. It's cutting me up inside. She never signed up for this.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Hey @Ed1975, thank you for sharing your experiences with the community!

Sounds like you are going through a tough time right now with your MH and ex-partner. You are demonstrating your resilience by reaching out to the community and being vulnerable with your peers.

I can relate to your situation as I have had broken relationships due to my MH and have seen how ex-partners changed and what they were experiencing. It was not easy for me at the time, but I did learn that reaching out is a beneficial thing to do, so pleased that you have taken that path. At SANE we have a program that provides 1:1 Peer Support or Counselling if you feel that it might be good to talk with someone who get's it.

This is usually only available in certain postcodes, however access is being extended to our Forums community. We understand this isn't always suitable for people so you can check out the Guided Service here - Welcome to SANE’s Guided Recovery and decide if you want to pursue it.

Please continue to connect with your peers here on the Forums!

Take care

@Ed1975 That is really hard. My husband is going through similar path. It's very hard on me but maybe like your ex, we are understanding and it's hard not to support someone you have known for so long. We too have a kid- 10 yrs old so that is another factor.  My mum is living with us now and things are not looking good.

It is very hard. I feel like he isn't really here.

It's great that you are getting support. I really wish you the best.
