Seizures

I've read a little on here and I have found that I am not the only one who experiences non-epileptic seizures...

For years no one took my seizures seriously... no one recognised that they were seizures... still now they don't...

One thing I'm good at is research... the need to find answers... to make this better... to feel less alone... that I'm not the only one...

Finally my doctor refers to me a neurologist and I'm still on the waitlist...

So I was in hospital yesterday with a suspected concussion from a seizure the previous day... they didn't recognise it as a seizure... they said when I came to that I was just napping... that my eyes were blinking... so I researched... and found they were again wrong...

I'm a neurodivergent trauma survivor having seizures... and they treat me like I'm faking it... telling me that I'm wasting their time... and so they put me out in the waiting room after being brought in by ambulance...

I go to the bathroom and the wheelie chair is missing... I get told to sit in with everyone else where there are no spare seats... I'm terrified overwhelmed and have no idea what's going on... with a head injury... but again I conclude that they don't understand and they won't but for the sake of my mental health I leave... burst into tears... and go home...

Does anyone else experience this? How do you handle it?

Re: Seizures

@avant-garde . I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I don't have any experience with it except to say that I hope you can see the neurologist soon.

Re: Seizures

@Just

I have 2 types, both the collapsing to the floor type.

The first is when my brain needs to process intense memories, that I'm triggered too much for my brain to handle, you can't wake me up from these, they're the thrashing type.

The second is the stress induced ones, when my current situation is too overwhelming for my mind to handle, these you can typically wake me from.

Re: Seizures

Thankyou for sharing. I'm hoping it gets easier for you over time. I guess I'm hoping for that too, for myself.
