Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer ooo sounds awfully intense!! I always love the costumery that goes into historical fiction, the attention to detail is amazing!

Maybe that's something that could help you to re-engage with the topic in a more balanced way? Start looking with a slightly different lens, or into broader/less personally relevant topics? And then potentially you could find other avenues to get that sense of control... I dunno, just food for thought!

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Jynx I love the costumes too. The documentary language is a bit too modern, it’s weird. I don’t think the f-bomb was used during that time😂. It’s so weird having them talk English in heavy Turkish accents.

I could give it some thought. It is hard especially since I get so sick everyday. I feel nauseous. My mum is like you didn’t eat enough lunch, that’s why. But I was too sick to eat more to start with. I feel over-full. Rice might be easier and more gentle to digest at night compared to bread. I can’t be bothered to make rice since I’m too tired and sick. So I guess I’ll eat bread

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer oh yeah that would absolutely take me out of the suspension of disbelief!! Reminds me of The Tiffany Problem ahaha - I think the f word originated in the 1700's but it's weird to think of some aristocrat saying it hey 🤣

Ach nausea is such a nightmare to contend with hey. Like sometimes I get nauseous from not eating enough but then it's like... I feel ick, but the fix is to put food in? Seems like a trick somehow 😑

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Jynx historical TV shows in Turkish include language that appears more believable, then again, I don’t know the difference between modern and more traditional Turkish. The English subtitles don’t really throw me off. The documentary language is a bit unbelievable.

The problem is, food can cause nausea too. I can’t adjust my diet too much if they need to do any tests, so I kinda have to stay with the ick for now. I’ll wait and see what the GP says tomorrow

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer what's been your fav like, moment in the show so far?

It's hard hey 😪 Our bodies didn't really evolve to live in the modern world, but live here we must, so sit with the ick is a necessity at times. I send gentle hugs of care and solidarity to you darlin🫂🫂

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Jynx I think I might need to watch the current TV documentary show for a bit longer, we haven’t gotten to the conquest part yet.

Totally agree, bodies weren’t designed for the modern world. A lot of our food is not the same as it used to be. Nor is the fast paced world healthy. Staying indoors all the time isn’t ideal, our ancestors spent more time outdoors and naturally did a lot of physical exercise during the day to day lives

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer ooo yes I bet the conquest bits would be very exciting!

Yeppp like why do we need multivitamins? Food becomes nutritionally less dense so then we gotta go buy supplements!! So ridiculous. It's also that much harder to meal plan/prep/cook every single week because we all lead such busy lives. It's rough hey 😑

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Jynx the conquests are sort of the highlight. Though the second season is really violent, we will decide what to do when we get there. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Vlad that impaler.

I take supplements because I do find it helpful. I don’t do multivitamins, I’ve always found those useless. It is costly. Meal prep can be hard when you’re busy. We cook in a bunch and freeze food

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Oh my gosh @creative_writer is it like R-rated? Cos yes, I have heard of him 😲😅

Yeah I got vit D, magnesium, iron, and omega 3 (cos I hate eating seafood) - used to take a daily multivit but like... the colour of my urine indicated I was literally pissing money away... Sorry for the TMI 🤣

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Jynx it’s MA 15+. He was pretty brutal. The fictional vampire Dracula was inspired by him, they have the same name. He is up there with Genghis Khan. You know some people say Genghis Khan had green eyes and red hair, not sure how accurate that is, but it is interesting how some people say that. There is apparently a DNA test to determine if someone is descendent from him for males, though I don’t really want to know if I am related to a psycho. Sorry, I’ve watched too many Mongolian fictional characters in other Turkish TV shows.

I take vitamin d, probiotics, vitamin c, migraine supplement (which has a whole range of stuff in it), l’theanine. I also use a magnesium cream, though I get some magnesium through the migraine supplement too. Some supplements can turn your pee weird, my migraine one sort of does that, but if I drink lots of water it sort of clears up 😂
