Life and trauma

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 . Maybe. I've just woken up having a full on panic attack yet again 😞

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-MemberI'm so sorry these attacks keep happening.  Could you email this clinic to see if they have the referral and push things along a bit?  You really need some professional.support for these attacks and regain some control over them.  Unfortunately, with the health system the way it is,  that may mean you need to give it a bit of a 'shove' to get started.... like an old broken down, unreliable car.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 I've literally had just over 2 hours sleep and every single time I sleep even for a few minutes I'm still waking up having a full on panic attack. I've just woken up again with one. My body and mind are completely exhausted, I feel sick and just blah. I don't understand how it's possible to even have this many and at this intensity.

@BPDSurvivor I'm definitely not ok, this is unbearable to go through. Trying to sleep is now giving me anxiety, even just the thought of sleeping is sending me into a state of panic.

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  From what (very) little i know, it definitely seems like a lot of the anxiety is about falling asleep.  Possibly the feeling of being helpless or defenseless while asleep.  If true, naybe there are things you could do to make yourself feel safer while sleeping.  Like i said, im far from an expert, so its just a thought.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 i only started getting anxious about sleeping because of waking up having panic attacks. I normally struggle to sleep yes but not because of being anxious to sleep. This is just completely different. My appointment on the 13th can't come soon enough cos something has to change.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 just wanted to check in to make sure you are ok?

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  Thanks for checking in.  Im doing okay.  Ive spent most of thecday just trying to keep myself distracted about tomorrows appointment.  Its worked pretty well fortunately but I'm not sure im going to sleep much tonight.  I really appreciate the check-in, especially with everything you have going on.

I really hope your upcoming appointment can help you with the panic attacks.  Obviously, this lack of sleep isn't helping and is probably just amplifying everything.  And as you say, something has to change.  Fingers crossed they can help with that, but also that it may start to improve before then.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 i can imagine how worried you would be about your appointment tomorrow. I'm always around if you can't sleep and want to chat.

The panic attacks suck big time. But meh it is what it is right?

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  we do seem to find ways to deal with things so difficult we would have never thought we would have been able to deal with before they happened.  I assume its a survival instinct or something.
