Life and trauma

Re: Life and trauma

Hey @Former-Member

I'm glad you're safe now and that you were brave enough to get help, that is not a small task!

You did not fail us, we all need help sometimes, I know that I'm glad you're still around, I value you and I'm not just saying that.

Asking for help doesn't mean you failed us, it means that you see some kind of value in yourself to still be here with us.

We care about you.

Re: Life and trauma

@avant-garde thankyou. I'm still not out of the woods yet but I'm just taking things as they come.

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  I'm so sorry you are struggling so much and in such a dark place.  I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it... please don't think you've failed anyone.  We know how much you are hurting and many people here know that very dark place.  You did what you needed to do to keep yourself safe and we're not only pleased you did, but proud of you for keeping youself going.  We know its so far from easy at the moment for you and people here were concerned about how you were doing after seeing how hard it was for you last night.  Not one of them would feeling you failed them in any way.

On the brighter side, i may have some photos of a new kitten to the house soon.... i think ive talked myself into it 😁

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 thankyou. It's really been a tough time and it still is.

Oh I definitely need to see photos of this new addition if it happens. Until then I need something to keep my mind off of things and how I'm feeling.

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-MemberWell, we're here for as well while the doctors are looking after you.

I don't know if you're a Harry Potter fan, but I've spent today printing this for someone who is.

And yes... I have far too much time on my hands! 😁

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member

We are definitely proud of you

Ok, distractions...

I have a cat, she is a very gorgeous rescue cat, she is 8 years old and is staying with my best friend at the moment.

She is scared of Willie Wag Tails more than she's scared of me.

On here I'll call her Ebony because that's what I would have called her but that's not her actual name.

I've had her 2.5 years and she's been with my best friend for about 9 months.

Re: Life and trauma

@avant-garde awwww she is absolutely beautiful. I hope you can get housing soon so you can get her back. I miss having a dog so much and it's part of the reason why my mental health is so bad now.

@avant-garde @MJG017  this is how I try to pass the time. It at least keeps my hands busy for a while.

@Former-Member

You should get a dog, or at least get access to a dog, did you know animal shelters often need dog walkers or someone to just sit with them to get them used to human contact? A lot of them have hard histories and so getting them to trust again is something shelter staff don't always have time for.

Or to become a foster home where they provide everything and you just take care of the dog.

I have a place I go to pet cats and the staff know me there and let me spend time playing with them.

@MJG017

I'm a massive Harry Potter fan, every year my best friend and I do an Advent calendar together and this year it was a Harry Potter stationery one.
