I finished my psychology degree in 2020. I learned so much in my studies about human behavior, personality, and relationships. But one lesson that stuck with me, and I haven't forgotten, is that the way we think has an enormous impact on how we feel and how we behave.
And, more than 500 years ago, Shakespeare knew it when he had Hamlet say "There is neither good nor ill, but thinking makes it so."
And yes, I love Shakespeare. My favorite play is Hamlet!

I did a year of Shakespeare at uni, then 30 years later my son and I did a few years of rehearsed readings at a Shakespeare Society. It was good “inhabiting” the characters and coming together to do the readings, much better than just silent reading. We got a lot more of the dynamism and interaction between characters. I am grateful for my education, but I also worked at it. Unfortunately we met an abusive person who was manipulative with various forms of coercive control and is currently causing grief in our lives.
still, the realm of thought, can transport and transform, but some things are not just about thoughts.
