The interesting thing about this is in Defence Mechanisms it has

According to Neurobiologist Dr Tara Swart we can overwrite the neural pathway of negative behaviour with positive behaviour, until it becomes our normal behaviour.

Not a mask - Neuroscience

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

That last batch is impressive and comprehensive @avant-garde Thank you very much

I particularly appreciate the detail in the defence mechanisms, the cognitive distortions and calming, neuroscience…. Boundaries…. I looked at DBT a lot about 10 years ago….they were all great tools and very relevant.

If any professionals had applied them appropriately I would have been grateful…mostly I had to tolerate them airily making reference to a concept without doing any work and applying it to something specific or helping me to unpack it and do it myself. The only decent ones are my current support worker and I think my current psychologist is beginning to understand me by some of the comments he makes. My psychiatrist doesn’t really have a clue, gets paid the most and can fob me off with generalising about 8 or 9 billion humans, but I need a psychiatrist in the current system, or do I?

anyway thanks a bajillion

theres gold in them posts

Anyway, the best work is the work we do ourselves

yes

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

@Glisten ooooh I have seen this as 'rescripting' therapy, is that the same you reckon?
