Mother's Day (TW)

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

Thank you @avant-garde

Those things are sometimes hard to believe.

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

@Oaktree

I know, because they're things I often need to hear myself.

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

Yes @avant-garde I've seen some of your Happy Meal art but I didn't know the reason you bought them. That's a good bit of self-care there.

I find it hard to eat when I'm really anxious

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

Yes I agree @Snowie there are many different aspects of mothers. There are many different reasons people are not mothers, some of them are too confronting for most people.

I fit into a few of your posted mothers.

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

I'm sitting here in bed (it's freezing outside, the house is cold) and I'm going through the thought spiral of just how much I fail people, how I let people down.

I couldn't afford to buy my Mum anything for Mother's Day. She and I have a...a difficult relationship. My Mum is...distant and doesn't like expressed emotion but she and my Dad gave me a roof over my head for eight weeks when I moved back home from QLD.

I don't have anything to give her. I've failed her again and I've disappointed her again.

@MissinTooth

Not having a present doesn't make you a failure or a disappointment.

It makes you a caring and loving person who cares so much about their mother that they neglect to see how much of a gift of is that you tried.

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the folks out there. Whether Mother’s Day is good day for you and you have your family around you, or whether it’s a challenging day for you where you might have a strained relationship with your kids or your mother, maybe you desperately want to be a mum but haven’t been able to, for those that have suffered loss, perhaps you were adopted, adopted out a child or have been through the foster system.
This day can be really challenging for some and I want to acknowledge that. We all carry our own heart on this day and for some we might feel blessed for what we have, but carry that ache for something else.
For myself, I have an amazing mum still in my life for whom I am so grateful for, I have a beautiful daughter who is my all, but at the same time Mother’s Day is hard cause both my birth family and my own family are broken. Both divorced. And that brings a sadness for me on this day. Cause it’s not what I am imagined or dreamt for my life. I also desperately wanted more children. Yes I am so thankful for my daughter, but again not what I had dreamt.
And it’s ok to sit in that inbetweeness.

wherever you find yourself today, know that you are loved, cares for and thought about today. Do what you need to do to get yourself through today 💕💜💐🪻🌺🌹🌸🥞🧁🍰🍫🍩🍷

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

Hello @MissinTooth. I know that feeling well and it's so easy to get stuck in that thought spiral. For what it's worth, you haven't failed me or let me down, you've really been a great support recently and I'm so thankful for that.

I hear you couldn't afford a gift for your mum but what about making her something? You are very talented at drawing, you could make a beautiful card with a picture on it. A gift doesn't have to be purchased it can be something made that's given from the heart.

Re: Mother's Day (TW)

@avant-garde those gifts are beautiful, thankyou for sharing.

How are you going?

Sending you hugs sweet ❤️
