got a few general questions on coronavirus and hospitality industry

hi everyone

have a few questions on coronavirus and hospitality industry.

1. why is it that everyone seeming to leave the hospitality industry all at once just after restrictions ease and the industry opens more and nearly every part is understaffed. can think of a few reasons.

a. most people have likely been doing it for years on end and theyve nearly had enough and the coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions and local places seeming busier prompted people to re asess their work life balance and move onto something with better work life balance

b. hospitality industry is never ending work and you work every weekend and every public holiday and dont get uninterrupted lunch breaks and people can only do it for so long and with the lockdowns they realised how hard it is and thats made them re think things.

c. same as b but also people dont want to go back to hospitality after months on job keeper.

d. bit of everything

2. why dont people want to go back to hospitality after lockdowns and job keeper and it takes forever for the industry to get responses everytime they start hiring people.

a. they want better work life balance than the industry can give

b. they get to point they just cant do it anymore

would above sound right, probably wont be doing it in 5 years and if current owners are still there will be asking to concentrate on the secondhand and cutting the weekend work back a little, whats best way to ask if theyre still there in that time frame.

seen on bbc on uk that its because most been doing it for 20-30 years and probably just want to move on and were thinking about it eventually and the lockdowns and job keeper  (brexitt in uk) gave them the push to do it, it is only meant to be a stepping stone while working up or just something to pay the bills until you find something else.

some people like me try to hang on until the times right because of a few things

thanks

Yeah, you're actually making me of the weekend penalty award debates just before the covid crisis first hit.
