Looking after ourselves

Own space

hi

was wondering what you could do to get a proper shed thats bigger than a 3x3 garden shed that isnt going to cost too much in rent, as in nearly as much as it would be to get a loan for a block with a shed of your own and pay it off.

would like to get a bigger shed and a shed on a different property as well but dont want to spend as much in rent as you would to buy something of your own when youre limited to what you can do to place and these days rent is nearly as expensive as it is to buy and youre limited to what you can do to place and for now just want something that isnt going to cost much thatll sort things for the medium term.

if there was a solution where you paid a cheap rate per year as in a few hundred or something it might be worth looking into for now but cant think of anything.

all the storage sheds dont allow you to work on goods stored and some are nearly as much as it is to rent a premises.

in the unexpected event of lockdowns how would you get a exemption to go to your rented workshop or owned block with workshop to work in and stay if needed, same goes for tiny house/accomodation/whatever. also in the unexpected event of quarrantine or just needing to escape how would you get exemption to go to accomodation for a night or 2 or 3 and nominate somewhere and stay in the accomodation unless you leave for listed essential reasons

realising that the person that am living with which am happy doing while saving deposit and things for as long as possible wont be able to afford to trade up and realising that its only fair that you pay your own way.

is there ways in mean time until you can do what you plan.

reason for waiting is that want to buy and not rent and be limited to what you can do to place.and whatever outcome is the current home will be the primary home atleast for a while as am otherwise happy there at moment.

eventually will likely move to the block but just want to most importantly get the storage and shed problems sorted first and just somewhere to stay once in while.

also was wondering because don't currently own a van where you can just tow it and park it on a powered site and pay $35-$45 a night every time  you just want your own space or have your own block with shed and small cabin to have your own kitchen and you name it what you could do to get accomodation cheaper in new cabins that has everything so it's nearly as cheap as a powered site that's as comfortable as a van and cabin that doesn't take hours to setup and pack every time.

Sometimes just want own space with own kitchen area just to have coffee stuff and you name it and realising that it's only fair to pay your own way and you can't expect others to pay your way and you got to start at bottom and what am currently doing is about as close as am going to get for quite a few years.

if anyone's got answers that'd be great

thanks

Re: Own space

Hi @daisy20202-7 , I have no answers, sorry, but I empathise with you about the difficulty of cheap housing solutions.

I also like my own space, so I am really hoping you can get yours soon.

Re: Own space

Hi

was just wondering if you want the independence of being able to choose what you wear to dinners or choose transportation or when you leave and how long you stay and where to family events what you would do if you can't afford your own place or have a girlfriend or both while you live with parents or similar.

wondered as most ideal solution is your own place as usually when you live with parents or similar you usually got to try fit in with their values and opinion as hard as it is but some people can't yet afford their own place or like me might be waiting till they can buy and some also like me might be mostly happy living where we are currently and would be ok with small changes

what would be way to explain to parents or similar how you feel as just am age where am wanting that independence but still live with them and trying to fit in with values and opinions and yards not big enough for a flat

if anyone is able to answer this as it's important that'd be great

what would average living costs be fortnight to cover bills and be able to have a life and some savings as well just to keep in mind
