Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Re: Running

@rav3n doing my best to breathe

Church camp is stressing me out, it's 3 very strong triggers

- no way out

- Christians/church

- alcohol is permitted

I'm scared

Re: Running

oh gosh, the 'no way out' defs sounds scary @avant-garde when's the last time you've been to a church camp? were there things that helped you get through and manage those triggers?

are there spaces for you to get some 'alone' time if you need a breather, or people you feel comfy with that you can lean on?

as scary as it all sounds, i believe in your ability to conquer this camp. you got this.

Re: Running

The last church camp caused these triggers

I've never been where we're going, but I know I get my own room

Re: Running

sorry to hear the last camp caused those triggers @avant-garde is this camp compulsory?

room to yourself is good!! maybe you can escape in there whenever you need a break? and definitely take some plushies with you.

does anyone else know about your triggers? like if things get overwhelming, are there people you could reach out to and they'd understand?

Re: Running

@rav3n not compulsory but I think important

No one knows about these particular triggers

Re: Running

do you feel comfy sharing it with anyone before the camp? totally okay if you don't.

@avant-garde how long does the camp run for?

Re: Running

Re: Running

YAY okay so glad it's only one night, was worried it was a week long @avant-garde even though your scared, do you reckon you can do this? (personally i think you're so strong, and you CAN do this. but your opinion matters more)

my strategy to get out certain camp activities was just going to the toilet or saying i had cramps/feeling nauseous, etc., so i can stay in my space. so hopefully if things get heavy or triggering, i really hope you have those opportunities to step away and take care of yourself.

Re: Running

@rav3n like they did tonight and I ran away starting to cry

Re: Running

@tyme

75% through church camp

I'll be glad when this is over and I can go be mentally stable.

Too many people putting their feet in their mouths with me.

Visiting ministers coming soon, talking about housing and how they say "I'll give up my house for them"

I was homeless 9 months and where the heck were they!
