Re: Functioning with ADHD

Aww hey @creative_writer been meaning to check in with you! I think I lost a notification somewhere? Sorry!

How are you hun?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Hi @Jynx so lovely to see you 💖. I hope you are well. This post https://saneforums.org/t5/Something-s-not-right/Rumination-and-unhelpful-coping-strategies-TW-Addict... describes where I’m currently at rn. I’m trying to sort through my brain at the moment because I feel like I’m on a slippery slope. I fear I’ll end up like my relative who engaged in addictive behaviours

Re: Functioning with ADHD

That's good that you are leaning into healthy coping ways @creative_writer 🙂 Thanks for letting the community know that you are safe! RiverSeal ❤️

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@RiverSeal it’s better to deal with bad ways early on than later. Some ways will ultimately cause negative health consequences down the track. It’s what happened to my uncle, I think he was in his early 60s when he died from a stroke. He had a lot of health issues by that age , lifestyle habits make a difference. He probably never learnt healthy ways to regulate his emotions

Re: Functioning with ADHD

My psychiatrist wants me to avoid meds due to my bipolar, but I am getting to the point of searching for other ways to help me with concentration and help me chill. I’m even looking at unhealthy ways. Anyone have any idea of what I can do? I can’t say too much here about what I mean due to guidelines, but maybe you get the gist of it

Re: Functioning with ADHD

I’m safe

Re: Functioning with ADHD

How do people manage ADHD unmedicated?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

I’m not sure if I can cope with ADHD, I’ve found a solution even though it’s not healthy. But I feel like I am not left with many options. So my brain is like just let go. At least if I could do things during the day, maybe I wouldn’t spend hours ruminating endlessly every single day. I can find a solution. I don’t know what to do, I wish I knew. I’m safe, even if I acted on the impulses, the risk is low. There are only long term consequences

Re: Functioning with ADHD

I did a training recently. I was interested to learn more about runimation and what it is. This may helpful: https://www.phoenixaustralia.org/disaster-hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Understanding-worry-and-rum...

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@tyme I need my brain to be properly working. If I can function and concentrate I get a lot done. If i can’t, I ruminate. If something helps me concentrate, it is difficult to resist doing it. When ADHD is rearing its ugly head I can’t even distract myself. I end up in a loop. I get nowhere.

Other alternative to my other method is to keep increasing saffron. I don’t care if they say it can trigger mania once quantity gets higher, I need a some form of stimulant or I’m not going to make it. Medication isn’t a option, I’ll find my own stimulant, even if it belongs in nature
