Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?
Hi @Former-Member (and @Determined @Faith-and-Hope @Shaz51 @outlander ).
Just back home last night. It's been a rough week. The expected surgery went ahead during the week, with Mum's agreement. Any other option would have left her in severe pain and risk of imminent death. While we won't have her forever, far better if the last stretch isn't too horrible.
She was in a bad way with severe pain after the surgery, but once they got that under control, she started looking much more her normal self. I extended my stay there by a few days to make sure that she was continuing to recover. Not sure when she'll be discharged back to the aged care home. Will be heading back there next weekend with Hubby, sister and Younger Daughter for a visit that was planned months ago... but will be well timed. If Mum isn't back in the home by then, she may well be discharged during our visit, and it would be good to be around for that.
The hard thing of we can't always be there when they'd want us to, but we try to be there for the times when it really matters.
