Re: The Playground

@Patches59 oh I forgot about happy feet, such good movies they are. And little house on the prairie is so good to watch.

Using your imagination to picture how things look in books is amazing to be able to do.

Haha about happy feet.

A Belgian conductor taught me to gently press down alternate foot as an aid to keeping the beat. He called it happy feet.

For me the whole playing of music had to be gently unpacked... As a lot of it can be hard work... So the light playful aspect took a while to sink in.

Wish me luck this arvo.

Re: The Playground

  1. What do you do for fun?
I love Lego. I enjoy it more than my 9yr old does. Colouring in and just about any arts and graft. Jigsaw puzzles too.
  2. Is there anything particularly silly that you do to make others laugh?
dancing with my daughter, tickling her until she screams to stop. Giving the dog a hard time, playing chase and hide and seek with her.
  3. What movies make you burst into giggles?
Oh gosh I don’t know about this one.
  4. How do you bring yourself joy through children's activities?
I think it’s just remembering how it made you feel when you were younger. It’s engaging in activities with my daughter and seeing the joy it brings her. It’s giving myself permission to entertain and do things for my inner child.

Re: The Playground

Yes yes yes!! Phenomenal thread!!

Someone once said to me that they wanted to try to be what they felt was most lacking in this world. I thought about it. For me, I think one of the things most lacking is whimsy. Specifically, whimsy means to do things on a whim - to do stuff just cos, why not? I feel like we've all been sooooo intensely socialised to follow very particular codes of behaviour but.. more often than not it just ends up stifling authentic expression! Like why can't I just dance in the street? I used to agonise over things like that, "Oh but what if someone..." what? Sees a random person dancing? EGADS!

So now, if I get the spontaneous urge to go sit in some mud, or break out into song, or give hugs to all the trees, I just DO IT!!

Now, questions!!

  1. What do you do for fun?
My fav gotta be dancing!! Being able to flail my limbs about in whatever way feels most fluid in that moment, getting out of brain and into body, what's not to love?
  2. Is there anything particularly silly that you do to make others laugh?
I am quite the punter. I make lots of puns. Like why are groups of mountains so funny? Cos they're hill areas!! Geddit?
  3. What movies make you burst into giggles?
Oooooo gotta say Airplane with Leslie Nielsen!! Cracks me up so much.
  4. How do you bring yourself joy through children's activities?
I try to inject whimsy into every facet of my life. I skip through the street, dance at the bus stop, sing loudly in the shower, give random people compliments, buy lollies, build sandcastles, climb trees, find cool sticks shaped like swords, jump in puddles, crunch on leaves, sommersault into bed, and of course I gotta make lots n lots of my silly little noises.... All. The. Time! BWAAAAAH!!! Blep. Mrrrrowww! Bwap. BOOM SHAKA LAKA 😝

Eeeeee hehehe. Thank for the opportunity to reflect on these very wholesome things @avant-garde 😍

Re: The Playground

@Jynx

You're just having a personal silent disco! I do that all the time in shopping centres, just bopping along to my headphones and randomly bursting into laughter.

On buses I just have my own dance party, I really get into my music

Re: The Playground

@avant-garde yesssss we love to hear it!! Music is LIFE!!

Re: The Playground

1. Play Yoville/Yoworld a virtual life FB game, daydream
2. Not guilty of acting the goat.
3. Peter Rabbit 2
4. Passing the slide test on the play equipment

Re: The Playground

@Misty5

I haven't seen either of the Peter Rabbit movies, are they any good?

Sonic the Hedgehog!!!Sonic the Hedgehog!!!

My latest claw machine win!

I may not always win, I may not even often win, but for my inner child, it brings her joy to try, like a small taste of a carnival in the middle of a shopping centre.

I could buy her the toys but it wouldn't be the same

His head struggled to get through the door
