Life and trauma

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-MemberI can't even imagine how frustrating it must be.  Well, i mean I can imagine, but i'm sure even that doesn't come close to the reality.

@MJG017 i wouldn't wish this upon anyone. It's horrible to feel so out of control and just in that constant state of panic even when that initial attack is over.

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  No, i don't think anyone would wish it on anyone.  But you do have to deal with it and thats why i think its so important that we do what we can to help you through this.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 and you do a great job of distracting me when things are tough. Today I coloured, I struggled but I persevered and finished my picture.

@Former-Member  That must have kept you busy for a while!  I like it... very psychedelic and trippy.

@MJG017 i like to stick to bright colours.

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  They kept pushing for more information on how you were coping?  I assume if they're concerned about you, they will want to ask a few tough questions to see exactly what sort of position you are in.  But i'm not sure if that's what you meant or not.

Maybe trying to write down here how you're feeling will help a little bit.  What has triggered these feelings and what you were feeling when you called them in the first place.  Is is harder at night than it is during the day, or it doesnt matter?  I get the feeling it's worse at night, but that just could be because we chat mostly at night.  I don't mean to push, i'm just really trying to understand more.

Re: Life and trauma

@Former-Member  It makes sense, don't worry about that.  I guess this 2nd person was well intentioned, but should have trusted what you said and tried something else.  Do they grounding exercises work if you don't try to think of anything traumatic?  Maybe if just trying would be a distraction.

Maybe focusing on the different senses you experience while doing something you enjoy.  I don't really know what else to suggest i'm afraid, but this isn't really something i know a lot about.  Those mindfulness things never worked for me.  The quietness just made me focus my thoughts on what was bothering me and it just made things worse.  I know you've tries so many things, but there must be something that would have some success.
