Life is like a canvas
starts out blank, but then we paint our story in colour and line
we add brushstrokes of different thicknesses and sometimes we stipple our way through
but the picture slowly emerges.
Sometimes the picture is what we expected, other times it forms bit by bit, near enough
but the picture fades sometimes too.
And that’s okay.
Your picture doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Most people’s aren’t.
What you ‘paint’ is based on your feelings and what you believe, what you experience
and that is what makes it it’s own masterpiece - fully formed, built bit by bit, doesn’t really matter
it is your masterpiece and it is uniquely yours.
And nobody has every in the past painted the same picture…or ever will.
Think about that when you doubt yourself. Why? Because every mistake, can be a lesson
…to get better…if we choose to see it the right way.
I am an artist. I can tell you, your ‘art’ will get better over time, and that is how it is supposed to be. We all make mistakes, we all ‘stuff up’ and we all disappoint ourselves and sometimes others
and that’s all part of the process of life. If everything had to be fair, fully formed, perfect first time, how would we ever learn anything?
You see, true wisdom comes from depth. Meaning becomes deeper from multiple passes. Mistakes are a good thing and we all make them - we are supposed to.
When I paint something, I love to see what people see in it. It is different for everybody because what we see, we see based on our own experience of life - the good, the bad, the ugly - our very humanity, that is what makes art truly special. It opens up a new part you didn't know was there.
But the more you look at a good piece of art, the more you see…and that’s the true gift, isn’t it?
So here is my question to you: What can you put on your canvas? Don’t like the first run - you can always paint over it with something better. And, I promise you…some day in the future, you will look back at your earlier ‘works’ and realise just how far you have come. It’s just a process. Same as life.
When things seem hard, remember, breathe...it is just a process, and then paint a new scene you like. It is your canvas after all.
Peace😉
