Re: Struggling

Hi forum friends

So much to do but no motivation or energy to do anything.

Just want to hide away in bed.

Feeling very empty and alone...

Re: Struggling

Hey @RedHorse

Sorry you are feeling overwhelmed.  The flooding would not help.  I am lucky it has not effected me this season.

Do what you have to do, but we do appreciate you here on the forums.

Think I'm going to have an early night.

After all, tomorrow is another day.

Re: Struggling

Hello I am a fellow sufferer of D and A and I understand what it feels like. It takes great determination to help yourself overcome. I actually talk to myself and say "come on, you can do this" and then I "do" it. It brings a feeling of "I can do anything I need to," one has the choice, it's not easy but it is worth it.

Re: Struggling

I’ve been sitting here tonight watching the teeeveee. Took the dog for a 2hour walk and he’s been very cuddly. Fire is burning away cosily. Uni is starting again , - it’s online so I don’t have to worry about people BS. Even though I would say I’m lonely I really don’t enjoy socialising. I know we are told that we are social animals - but what if we aren’t? What if rejection becomes so traumatic that recovery is just too hard? I find I can’t be bothered measuring up to a standard that I will never get to. We may be social animals but having a mental illness is not really something I can bring up in a conversation  - anyway.

Re: Struggling

Hi @R-A-B-H-S and welcome.

That's a great attitude you've got towards getting things done and it's made me rethink the post I was going to make about my low energy and current lack of motivation.

Maybe I can do what needs to be done here. I just need to take the first step...

Take care,

RedHorse 🌹🐴

Re: Struggling

Hello @perspective , it's good to hear from you.

What a lovely picture you painted of you and the doggo cuddling in front of the fire.

I hope you enjoy the online uni experience now that it's starting up again.

As to the other issue, I'm with you on that... Thank goodness for my forum friends with whom I can share my thoughts and feelings.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Hello Red Horse, I'm so pleased to be able to give you encouragement and support. I have had depression and anxiety since I can remember. I have had 5 sons. I could go for months and all fine then "IT" would happen again. I had severe depression after the first 4 babies and it was so hard to keep going but I had these precious little boys to look after. When I had the 5th son I didn't have IT. I had met a lady who was a ministers wife and she had the same thing. She introduced me to a book by Dr Claire Weekes which over the years has help me tremendously. She was a GP who specialised in Self Help for your Nerves. I keep going back to it. Dr Clare explains everything about this condition and has helped many people from all walks of life. I took that book with me into the hospital when I had S and I felt IT coming on and I read her words and felt it lift away. Do stick with it, it's not easy, but you can do it.

Re: Struggling

Thanks @R-A-B-H-S for your support and encouragement and for sharing your story.

I really appreciate it.

I've taken my PRN meds and am going to have another early night with a view to getting up in the morning and giving it a solid try.

One day at a time.

Take care,

RedHorse 🌹🐴
