Re: New and scared

Hi, I have a 29 year old son who diagnosed with schizoprenia last year, after many years of troubled behavior, and not knowing exsctly what was going  on. You are very lucky that your son is willing and able to go to work, that's great! My son has a problem interacting with people and situations, so is unfit for work. I too was given no answers as to how it came about or what the future will hold, which I agree, is very scary...

My son is not on depot injections and I have noticed before he is due for another injection he starts to ffall down again, I also don't think he is taking other prescription medicine as he should be.

He has a case manager and between us, we are trying to persaude him to put his name down for public housing, as he really dislikes where he is staying now. He can't live with me...long story.

We are not alone, I wish you and your son all the best.

Cheers Libra.

Re: New and scared

*** that should read, my son IS on depot injections.

Re: New and scared

Hello @Libra , how are you today

Re: New and scared

Hi @Shaz51,

Things have been a bit up and down since then. I haven't heard from my son since he had his last injection last week. He was getting very aggitated and demanding, so I have given it a break...

That makes me feel guilty though. I have some washing to take to him, but I just need some space, is that OK?

Cheers Libra xo

Re: New and scared

@Libra

is that OK?, yes my friend , you need to look after yourself to look after others

That makes me feel guilty though, sending you knowing hugs HeartHeart

I feel that way as I feel I should look after my mum who is 87 and frail more , with my husband with Bipolar 11 I feel guilty at times

Remember self care is very important and remember you are not alone , soo keep in touch xxx

Re: New and scared

Thanks @Shaz51, it's funny how when I'm always thinking about him, he usually contacts me AND that has just happened, lol. I'm sure we have a psychic thing between us.

He has just sent me a text asking for a lift to the shops tomorrow for a  hair cut and and to do some shopping...so he sounds well. He also said he saw me driving yesterday (probably home from work) and sent a Smiley Happy emoji.

Thanks for the forum link.

Libra.

I related to your other post on grasshopper thread as well....learning of diagnosis...hospital detainment...self questioning...how can this be happening in our family?

I have a family member ...unfortunately cannot say too much to protect privacy and trust...have changed my profile name...sorry about cloak and dagger approach..

I quoted your response above.....as my mind was blown away........

I have exactly the same connection with my "family member"....unbelievable times where I have had contact out of the blue after long periods...I have been in hospital 3 times....each time received a call...the last time confirmed a very unique connection....I was admitted to emergency hospital overnight...the only other person who knew was my husband....(second husband).....my "family member" only trusts his dad..myself...and his sibling...so get that part of your scenario too...

my "family member" lives interstate...address unknown.. rang the morning I was in the emergency hospital waiting to see the specialist..

Hoping the mumbo jumbo makes some sense...

I can also confirm from first hand information with a psychiatrist that schizophrenia is often brought on by a major trauma...not in every case...my "family member" had several and slipped under the radar with diagnosis being very clever ....developed self preservation technique...

I also understand exactly about the fear of what happens when we are not here...I believe that every single carer of someone with this illness has that same fear...

we learn to deal with what is in front of us at any given moment....

there are many of us on here...you will find us if you search under the carer's forum....do this when and if you have the energy...

what is helpful though....the fact sheets.....if you want to know more about finding things on this website ...you will notice community guides about the place...they can help you too..

feel for you...Heart
