Re: Clinical Depression -- Major Depressive disorder and inherited depression

Hi @Shaz51

another big day for you all.. what does hubby think of this diagnosis? I have mdd and have found it difficult to get under control. at times its worse than others. Did they have any new suggestions on how to manage it? did they suggest any extra meds or ect?

My psychiatrist just focuses on using meds. my psychologist wants to focus on treating the underlying trauma and dissociaton that i have so much difficulty with. my support workers want me to think positively and just get on with life.

hope you're ok Shaz

Re: Clinical Depression -- Major Depressive disorder and inherited depression

hello @Shaz51 @Former-Member

That is what I have had with anxiety for many many years.

i had to try different medications now i stick with this one, less side affects, cant tolerate any higher have tried, so i push through myself and have psychotherapy.

is very hard to deal with even before diagnosed, your husband would be feeling overwhelmed another illness.

You would be feeling overwhelmed another illness.

Focus on your love for each other, special moments and let the doctor concentrate on the illness just for now. give yourselves some hugs xxxx

Re: Clinical Depression -- Major Depressive disorder and inherited depression

Hi @Shaz51 and Mr Shaz

Its incredibly frustrating. I know that how we think is an important part of it. i have read 'change your thinking' and it is good... and makes sense its jsut hard to keep on track with it. i'm also reading Reality Slap by russ harris i think it is. i'm 1/3 of the way through it and not able to read much at the moment but its also good.

Half the time its a big enough battle to just think about getting one foot in front of the other. I do know that my psychologist helps keep me more on track though. Even though yu don't have a psychologist at the moment it might be worth revisiting that later on... any extra support/education is useful
