Hi there,
I have just joined this forum and it’s my first time posting. I feel like I’m at a loss and someone recommended this page to me.
My partner of three years has a problem with alcohol, which he’s admitted to me. We’ve had the talks, he admits he needs help. But nothing changes. I’m at the end of my tether and wondering if the relationship is worth all of this intense anxiety I am constantly feeling.
He gets home from a night of heavy drinking around 3am at least twice a week, on week nights too and when he knows we both have work the next day. The constant sleep disruption is affecting my mental and physical health a lot. I’m disappointed that he can’t take responsibility. He’s 30 years old. I feel like I’m living with a 17 year old. This isn’t the kind of relationship I want nor do I ever want to bring children into this.
I suppose I just want to see if anyone else out there is also experiencing this with their partner, and if so, how do you cope? This is really wearing me down and I don’t feel myself anymore.
Thank you for reading

Hey @LeeLoo92, thanks for sharing your experiences with the community!
It takes courage to reach out to your peers, and you have demonstrated that you are really brave in sharing these experiences about your partner. It sounds really tough that you are going through this right now, and understandably, you are thinking about the future and what you want from a partner.
I really appreciate your vulnerability and being open and honest, and I believe the community will have some insights to share with you about similar situations. You can also reach out to Relationships Australia and 1800RESPECT, who can support you with ways to manage your relationship and talk about your choices. Also, you might like to refer your partner to the Alcohol and Other Drugs Information Service to talk about receiving support for his alcohol misuse.
Please don't hesitate to reach out and continue to share your story with the Forums and you can introduce yourself here too: https://saneforums.org/t5/Welcome-and-getting-started/Welcome-Introduce-yourself-here/m-p/1149480
Take care
