Chronic pain

I have posted here a few times but today is a low point.

I spoke to my neurosurgeon  (he is not the practitioner that made me like i am but one who i trust)this morning

I'm sure many of you have heard the phrase AS GOOD AS IT GETS

Well that's what I have been told this morning

So now I get to live a life of pain or make the decision to stop this pain

To be put in this situation by a member of the medical fraternity really urques me.if they had said I'd be worse after surgery I would never have had it .And the fact they take no responsibility for their actions really gives me the s##T's.

I really appreciate all the support I have recieved from you all and would like to thank you all

Re: Chronic pain

Thanks for your thoughts .I spent time at our local hospital last night with headaches and nerve pains in arms.

It appears that my cervical vertebrae has issues as well. Traction eased the nerve pain but now straped in neck brace to keep pressure of discs.

I am starting to wonder if this will ever end.

It's just so debilitating physically and mentally that I'm getting to the point where I've had enough .

Not sure how much longer I can put up with this all.im trying to stay strong for kids and grandkids but it's getting harder each day .

Thanks for your support it does help

Re: Chronic pain

Hi @Former-Member

I'm so sorry to read of night spent in hospital & ongoing pain issues. I really don't know how to respond. The first thing that came to mind when reading was perhaps utilising the support of 'chronic pain support groups', if this is something you have not already done

I am trying to sympathise with your experience. I think it is something that is hard to imagine unless going through it yourself. I hope you can find some support via psych or counseling services that may help 🤞 or even possibly different pain medications?

Thankyou for continuing to reach out during this very difficult time. Your story is important 💗 I'm glad that support through comments have meant something to you. It probably doesn't help much, although I know for myself, that reading a kind word from a stranger seemed to make a big difference for me at times 💜🙂

Re: Chronic pain

Thank you @maddison I have tried some other forums and I think I've exhausted every other avenue.

I have not had a pain free day since 1997 and after over 20 years of pain and it's gradually getting worse it is becoming harder to deal with.

I'm on the max dose of pain medication and others I have a reaction to so the avenues left for me are not that great.

I have a 9 month old grandson and I would like to be around long enough for him to have a memory of me.

The kind words and support I have gotten from the wonderful people on this site is all that keeps me from just giving in to the black thoughts .I wish I was a famy pet sometimes at least we let them go with dignity

Thanks again to all for your words and support

Re: Chronic pain

I'm sorry to hear of your chronic pain @Former-Member . It certainly sounds so debilitating.

Are you under the care of a pain specialist?

I hope you will be able to find some reprieve soon. You deserve to enjoy your children and grandchildren.

Sitting with you,

tyme

Re: Chronic pain

@tyme I have tried various pain specialists in Newcastle and Sydney.

Sydney specialists actually made it worse and the specialists at Newcastle stabilised tbe pain but as I stated earlier that I'm maxed out on oainkillers so unless I po resent at hospital and be knocked out completely thete is not alot anyone can do.

My gp has been wonderful as is the neurosurgeon in Newcastle but the orthopeadic surgeon was just dismissive after the bungled surgery.

And now with this headache caused by neck discs is just icing on the cake.

I'm sorry I am going g to have to leave it there my head is really pounding so I will take my meds and try and sleep .
