Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

hey @Determined

thank you so much for checking in with me. do you have a thread where i can follow how you are doing?

this week has been pretty full on but mum was discharged yesterday and is back home. even though i had a bit of a breather it is nice when she is back home. i think it's cause i dont trust the docs and nurses fully re: medication they give her lol

how have you been? you been ok?

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

Hi @Bella1978,

Did you have a better day today?

I took mum for her pre-admission interview at the residential respite care facility today. We have booked a six weeks block of respite starting in just over a week's time. This will be her first time in residential respite and so she is a bit anxious in anticipation of the new experience. She said that we want to lock her up..... Thankfully the staff are very understanding and will make an effort top help her settle in... Including giving her a picture version of tge menu (as mum doesn't read English well) and have the daily routine translated into Chinese for her.

Anyway, hope she will actually enjoy it once she's there.....

Hi @Shaz51, @outlander, @Catcakes and @merri. Have we all survived the day so far?

Have a good week everyone!

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

@Susana

that would have been hard for you no doubt, taking your mum to the residential respite facility. how are you? would have been a tough decision but well done. the hardest decisions we face in life are the ones that actually help us to grow, and discover how strong we really are.

it is great that they accommodate CALD clients - so many different nationalities in australia, and especially with our older generations who migrated here. i do hope she settles in ok and doesnt have too much anxiety. will be a nice break for you knowing she is in good hands.

xx

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

Thanks @Bella1978,

I hope so too.
How's your mum today? And you?

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

you're welcome @Susana 🙂

im okay, pretty tired tonight. had some anxiety today, i think with mum being back home but, im thinking about what you told me last night and allowing her to do her own thing, make her own decisions, etc so am trying to take a step back. i think once she is home for a few days i will start to feel more at ease again. i need to take things one day at a time and focus on the positives, ie the improvement she has made.

thanks for checking in with me luv
